France vs Brazil Match Report


Visitors Brazil ran out winners as they came from a goal down to win it at the Stade de France.



The two teams lined up with legends from the 1998 final game sitting in the stands. This was the very stadium where France won their sole World Cup trophy with current managers of their national teams captaining the side that day.


France lined up with Benzema as the captain of the day after regular captain Hugo Lloris unable to play due to a knock which he suffered against Leicester.


France took the lead in the 21st minute as Valbuena put in an inch perfect corner for Varane to put in the back of the net. Thiago Silva was partnered by Miranda after Luiz was declared unfit.


But it wasn't long before Brazil the better side to wave their magic as Chelsea's Oscar did a brilliant job of thinking past two player to toe poke it home.


With Brazil keeping up the tempo and moving the ball swiftly, France looked to counter attack using the pace and physicality of Matuidi and Sissoko in the midfield.


But it was Neymar and Brazil who made it two - one before halftime, with again another Chelsea man Willian played him through.


France looked for immediate reaction as they threw bodies forward again for a set piece but this time it was dealt with. The game progressed in to the second half with Brazil dominating possession.


In the 69 minute the Brazilians doubled their lead through Luiz Gustavo from a set piece. This goal put the game to bed with Brazil winning 7 out of the 7 in the second coming of manager Dunga.
