Hugo Lloris’ heroics and Manchester United’s woeful finishing resulted in an end to end goalless draw at the Lane.
It was a tale of two halves as both the teams had their say in either halves. The first one was dominated by the visitors who had few glorious opportunities squandered and quite a few saved by the French stopper. Radamel Falcao missed two sitters which could have put the tie beyond Spurs’ reach. Robin Van Persie’s effort was saved by Lloris while the French captain also saved a screamer from Ashley Young.
In second half, Spurs had the legs and desire in the midfield where Manchester United were slowly showing signs of weariness. Lloris saved few glorious chances from both Van Persie and Rooney. Harry Kane inspired few swift counters by holding the ball up but the Spurs never really troubled David De Gea seriously. As the game wore on, Spurs had the upper hand in the tie which could’ve swung either way.
United luckily didn’t lose enough as both Chelsea and City drew their ties as well but have Wenger’s Arsenal breathing down their neck after they won their derby tie against Hammers 2-1.
