Wayne Rooney's penalty saved England the blushes against Norway and tonight he will be expected to lead from front. He was upbeat about his team going into the qualifiers,
"It is important to try to win," said 28-year-old.
"We all understand there are big expectations playing for England. That starts on Monday."
On the contrary English manager was bit skeptical about his team and downplayed the hype around his boys.
"We are building this
game up now and I don't have any reason to knock it down but on the other hand, it's the first qualifying game."
He asked not to read too much from this game as there's lot of time between now and the finals in 2016.
"We want to get off to a good start, we want to play well, we want to win but if
we win it by 3-0 that still doesn't mean to say we're going to win the Euros in 2016."
This will be Switzerland's first game after the heartbreak in Brazil and also under new manager Vladimir Petkovic. He sounded optimistic about his team's chances, "I am absolutely certain of the team's potential. That will help me and I am absolutely convinced we can succeed together," he said.
"We are not a small team and we can start with our heads held high for this qualifying campaign. A team in the top ten in the world rankings must be confident of getting a result on any match day."
Daniel Sturridge misses out today's game as he is struggling with his thigh injury while midfielder Jordan Henderson is also a doubt for Three Lions. This means Danny Welbeck and James Milner may start with Hodgson opting for 4-4-2 diamond with 19 year old Raheem Sterling playing more centrally.
Switzerland have a full squad to choose from with no major injuries to any of their players is reported.
This is the toughest game for both the teams in group E as San Marino, Slovenia, Estonia and Lithuania complete the group.
