Tribute to Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack victims
The French satire magazine Charlie Hebdo was once again targeted by terrorists on Tuesday for depicting a print the image of the Prophet Mohammed.
12 people have been killed in the attack, including 10 magazine staff.
5. Iraq:
A footballer was killed and 11 others were wounded in an incident on July 19th 2013. A mortar fell in the middle of the football pitch at the stadium in al-Qalaa during a Ramadan football tournament.
4. Syria:
Player from Homs-based club was getting ready for practice when two mortars exploded near a stadium in central Damascus resulting in killing the player - Youssef Suleiman.
3. Russia:
One of the most recent incidents, when a footballer for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala was shot down. Gasan Magomedov, 20, died from his injuries on Saturday after his car was sprayed with bullets fired from a machine gun while he was driving home.
2. Togo:
The Togo national football team was bus attacked by terrorists attack as the team traveled through the Angolan province of Cabinda on the way to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Bus driver Mário Adjoua, the team's assistant manager Abalo Amelete, and media officer Stanislas Ocloo were killed, with several others injured.
1. World Cup 1994:
During the 1994 World Cup, the Colombian team lost 2-1 to the United States of America, with Escobar scoring in his own goal, leading to their elimination. Upon his return home he was shot and killed. The murder is widely believed to be a punishment for the own goal, though it may well have been linked to heavy gambling losses accrued by drug lords who bet on the team.
