The saying, " When in Rome, Do as the Romans do." Could be an absolute no if you're a Russian visiting the Italian City.
We again saw flashes of football hooliganism in Italy. A prominent media outlet Sports Mediaset reports brutal attacks on two Russian supporters in Rome. The incident took place at the Ponte Duca d’Aosta area in Rome, which is in close proximity of just outside Roma’s Stadio Olympico.
The brawl took place before kick-off between Roma and CSKA Moscow supporters. The reason is which kick started the brawl still unknown. The injured fans are admitted in Rome’s Gemelli Clinic.
One of the victims was reported to the clinic in critical condition. He arrived at the hospital with stab wounds to the torso and abdomen. The other fan has a wound to the head. The cause of which is suspected to be a beer bottle, which was supposedly used as a weapon.
There were high tensions in the stadium during the match as the travelling fans were reportedly venting their anger on the match stewards. The flare bombs also came into action as the CSKA fans didn’t miss any opportunity to show their dissent.
