Manchester United who are having a season to forget interms of performance and injuries, are looking to boost their side with backups as injuries have made their title challenge difficult.
Van Gaal who tool over as the manager in summer, over saw a summer transfer window spending of around £150m as United looked to get in quality players.
They did succeed in bring in quality attacking players but failed when it came to defence. Injuries in defence during the season meant they wouldn't able to mount a trophy challenge even after spending £150m.
Van Gaal and United's long term target Matts Hummels looks like he'll stay and play for Dortmund for more years.
Their other target and former player Gerard Pique doesn't want to move from Barcelona.
The only viable and achievable target at the moment looks like Real Madrid's 21 year old Varane. Varane has been behind in the pecking order. He doesn't get much minutes due to Ramos and Pepe being played ahead of him, which leads to him getting less chances at the international stage.
He said: "It's different with the
national team. I get more
minutes and have more
responsibility in the team. The
aim is to reach the same level
of involvement in the club."
Buying Varane from Real will be task in itself.
