1) Birgit Prinz:
German by birth and by growth Brigit Prinz could be also called the grand old lady of women's world cup. Of the 19 players who have won the FIFA Women's World Cup™ on two occasions, Birgit Prinz is the only player to have taken part in three Finals.
In addition to Germany's two wins at USA 2003 and China PR 2007, Prinz also played in the first half of the Final at Sweden 1995 against winners Norway. Prinz is one of 12 German players to have won the Women's World Cup twice, while seven Americans have also achieved the same feat.
2) Eight New Teams This Year:
There will be eight debutantes at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, when Cameroon, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Thailand play their first games on women's football's biggest stage.
As a result of the field expanding from 16 teams to 24 sides for Canada 2015, fresh blood was always going to be introduced to this Women's World Cup and now one third of all teams playing will be making their tournament debuts.
The Netherlands are the first debutante to take the field when they take on New Zealand at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium on 6 June.
