10) Arsenal's FA Cup Victory:
Nine years of frustration and desperation was all in to jubilation and celebration when the Gunner managed to win the FA Cup. Arsenal came back from behind to win the game 3-2 as Welsh superstar Aaron Ramsey scored the goal in extra time to bring the first trophy in nine years. Their trophy drought had become such a burden that fans were calling for Arsene Wenger’s head, and when they went two goals behind to Hull the Gunners feared the worst. But it Arsenal who ultimately won the fixture and celebrated with a Trophy Parade.
9) Netherlands thrash Spain 5-1 in their opening World Cup group match:
Defending Champions where decimated by Netherlands national team as they scored five past Spain at full time. Spain who were termed as untouchables since their very first success in 2008 Euro's, where punished by the likes of Arjen Robben who caused maximum damage to the Spanish defence. With revenge on their minds, the Dutch completely outplayed the Spanish as the drastic first match result led to a drastic world cup exit in the group stage.
8) MK Dons 4-0 Manchester United:
MK Dons who lie well below Manchester United in the order of clubs, absolutely blew United away as they drubbed the English giants by 4 goals in the Carling Cup fixture.
United who spent 150m pounds+ in the summer where handed a shock drubbing from the league two minnows. United who cost 100 times the cost to build when compared to MK Dons who were assembled for a mere 500,000 pounds compared to United's 150m pound outlay on just 5 players. “I am not shocked, I know what happens in football,” the new United manager said after a comprehensive defeat to a side that cost £500,000 to assemble. “A new team is not built in one month.”
7) Ramos scores in the dying minute to take the game to extra time:
Sergio Ramos scored one his career's most important goal when he scored in the dying seconds of the Champions league to give his team a chance to still win the Champions League. Ramos, popped up and headed home to cancel Atletico's 1 goal lead which was scored by Diego Godin. Ramos' goal took the game into the extra time, where Real Madrid 3 more to win the La Decima.
6) David Moyes's Fall From Grace:
Now the manager Spanish-La Liga side Real Sociedad, David Moyes's sacking was one of the major events in 2014. Moyes who signed a six year contract with United and was personally chosen by Sir Alex Ferguson himself, was sacked for his sides miserable perfromance on the pitch.
5) Crystal Palace 3-3 Liverpool:
Brendan Rodgers led Liverpool, who were handed a shock defeat at Anfield by Jose Mourinho's Chelsea just a week before the Palace game, where again in for a shock this time their title challenge dented by South London side, who came back from 3-0 down to draw the game 3-3 at full time.
Gayle scoring two, showed the mentality of the Palace side who had a terrific second half of the season.
4) Chelsea 6-0 Arsenal:
This game could well be described as the game of the season, on the occasion of Arsene Wenger's 1000th game anniversary his side travelled across the town to face their rivals Chelsea.
Chelsea's quick start to the game and four goals in the first half, Chelsea absolutely decimated Arsenal. Add to it there was a sending off for Gibbs who was mistaken =ly sent off by the referee.
3) Luis Suarez bites Giorgio Chiellini:
Luis Suarez who's no too far when it comes to controversy, was at it again. This time it was a bite on Chiellini in Natal where Uruguay taking on Italy. Suarez bit Chiellini on the shoulder, with the world seeing, Suarez was handed a lengthy ban and was termed uncontrollable.
2) Gareth Bale with the magical run:
The man for big stage was at it again as he this time out paced and out ran to score a spectacular goal to win his side the Copa del Rey against arch rivals Barcelona. Xabi Alonso released Bale on the left, but it looked as if the Barcelona defender Batra would reach there first but it was Bale who poked the ball past him as he ran from the sidelines to reach and beat the defender to score the gaol to top it off.
1) Brazil 1-7 Germany:
What is more embarrassing than losing by seven goals and that too when you are the host of the World Cup. The same thing happened to Brazil who were drubbed, banished by seven goals by to be winners Germany.
