Bayern Munich came from a goal down to beat a struggling Borussia side at the Allianz Arena. This was Bayern’s first victory against Dortmund at the Allianz Arena since 2010.
Both teams rolled out attacking teams as each of them wanted to prove a point to everyone. The game started at a brisk pace as Dortmund had the upper hand in opening minutes as Bayern were struggling to contain the quartet of Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Reus and Aubameyang.
Soon Borussia’s early dominance capitalised into a goal as Marco Reus heads the ball home from far post on Aubameyang’s ferocious cross. It seemed that Dortmund would run away with this tie as they kept Bayern marginalized for most of the half.
The visitors had an awful end to first half as they lost their captain Mats
The exit of Hummels turnrd the tide for the hosts as Bayern started to get into their own. Lewandowski, Ribery and Robben started to get more prominent in the game.
A defensive blunder by Subotic gave hosts the equaliser as Lewandowski scored from just outside of the box. Bayern had a spring in their side post the equaliser. Subotic was the villain once again as his clumsy challenge on Ribery in 83rd minute gave Bayern a lifeline to seal the deal.
Arjen Robben stepped up thumped the ball past Roman Weidenfeller as he all but sealed the win for the defending champions in 85th minute.
This win leaves Bayern four points off Gladbach at the top whereas Dortmund are in bottom three and are in the relegation zone.
