Everyone is raving about Diego Costa and his exploits in the Premier league. It is astonishing to hear that his manager isn't too happy with the fitness of his star striker.
Costa has scored 8 goals in 6 games for the Blues but is far from his scintillating best which we all witnessed at Atletico last term, according to his gaffer.
"He cannot be on top of his game," said Mourinho.
"He's doing almost nothing in training. He's just resting and recovering from the tight muscle he has. I don't care about Diego's goals. For me it's important that the team score enough goals to win.
"I know a striker scoring goals is always nice for him and for his confidence, especially for a player like him who is not training as he should, because we are protecting him in certain situations.”
It is known fact that Diego Costa has hamstring problems and he was deemed unfit by his coach, Jose Mourinho, to play three games in a week. Chelsea boss was worried about this problem as he added,
“It is a gamble to play him (Costa) in consecutive matches without a week to recover from his situation. The accumulation (of games) is the problem."
The fact that he is so highly rated by his captain, John Terry, who has played alongside the best forwards as well as also faced quite a few
“Diego Costa is a different class. He’s always a threat, is hungry for goals and we're delighted to have him here.”
If an unfit Costa is capable of such feats then we may well be in the unknown what ‘Super Diego’ can do when 100% fit.
