The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, saw a record attendance as the two sides shared the spoils but was a entertaining game overall, as there where chances at both the ends. With the away fans in full support for their side, it made for a fierce atmosphere.
Delhi made a single chance coming into the game as they played Adil Khan instead of Naoba Singh. On the other hand there where a host of changes for the away side, Capdevilla, Koke, Chansa and Tzorvas all not fit enough to start the game.
Delhi who looked confident before the game started, but it was NEUFC who started brighter of the two sides. But there was no testing the keepers. The second half started with both sides giving away cheap possession. Del Piero was substituted at 57minutes as the crowd rose to give the man a standing ovation, not for his performance but just for his achievements in the game. Brazilian Gustavo came in for Alessandro.
Just 5mins from the substitution, the away side where appealing for a penalty as the Ref played safe by not giving it. A clear offense, the replays showed there was a pull on the NE player. Delhi escaped the punishment. So enough another chance fell to NEUFC as the kiwi striker just couldn’t finish it after a great build up.
