Mumbai, June 25:
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) in association with the Western India Football Association (WIFA) will be conducting programmes for women and girls in Mumbai from Friday, June 26 to Sunday June 28, 2015.
To promote and encourage the sport among women, the AIFF in association with FIFA, will launch the first of its kind workshop, ‘Live Your Goals’ on Sunday, at the Cooperage ground in Mumbai.
The objective of this initiative is to extend the outreach of football amongst the women of the country while popularizing sport and fostering interest for ‘the beautiful game.’
The legendary Oinam Bembem Devi who has virtually been a part of the success of the Indian National Team in the last decade, along with the fleet-footed striker Bala Devi and sprightly winger Sasmita Mallick have been branded as the faces of ‘FIFA Live Your Goals’.
The ‘FIFA Live Your Goals’ is a detailed roadmap of how women’s football should be spread uniformly across the country through various Grassroots Programmes, Footballing activities and other festivities.
In coordination with the chalked out plan, AIFF will also organise a two-day informative Grassroots Leaders Course for Women participants on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 for the Indian Women’s National team players and local participants from WIFA.
Scott O’Donnell, AIFF Technical Director, will be present to oversee the conduct of all the three programmes.
The events on all three days will be conducted from 9.00am to 6.00pm.
