Manchester City (4-4-1-1): Hart; Sagna, Demichelis, Kompany, Clichy; Navas, Lampard (Fernandinho, 28), Fernando (Touré, 77), Milner; Silva (Jovetic, 70); Aguero.

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Dier, Kaboul, Fazio, Rose; Capoue (Dembélé, 60), Mason (Vertonghen, 70); Lamela (Townsend, 60), Eriksen, Chadli; Soldado.

Manchester City trounced Spurs at the Etihad riding on a quartet of goals by Sergio Aguero. Spurs got a consolation from Eriksen but were torn apart by the Argentine wizard.

City opened their account in the 13th minute as Aguero displayed his poaching skills. Aguero scored two penalties and missed one as there were in all 3 penalties awarded in the match by referee Jon Moss. Spurs leveled quickly via the spot kick which Cristian Eriksen scored with aplomb.

But this couldn’t stop the Argentine as he scored a second for himself and City within 5 minutes after Eriksen’s equalizer. The visitors didn’t play bad but were simply outdone by Sergio Aguero.

A shambolic performance from the Lilywhites captain Youness Kaboul and midfielder Federico Fazio cost them dearly. Frank Lampard got injured in the match which rules him out for at least a month.

City once Lamaprd was stretchered off were easily bullied in the midfield by Eriksen and Mason but they simply had no answer to El Kun. He completed his hat-trick in 68th minute and got himself a fourth 7 minutes later in the 75th minute.
