Overview:

Just when Liverpool thought their bad days where over, they again where handed a defeat this time on the hands of Newcastle United who where struggling for form their own. But last four results have changed the complexion of the Newcastle United team which started the season poorly and sit level on points with Manchester United on the table.

Liverpool won their Capital one cup tie with struggling striker Mario Balotelli scored the winner. With the squad positive coming into the Newcastle game, Coutinho kept his place in the side after a impressive performance in the Cup tie. Allen came in for Emre Can, with Balotelli leading the line.



Newcastle on the other side, defeated defending Champions in the league cup. Newcastle drubbed Man City by a margin of two goals. Newcastle where on a little run of their own and wanted the result of this game to go their way. Pardew named almost a unchanged side, with Obertan coming it. Cisse lead the attack and Remy Cabella was named on the bench.


The game was dull, with both sides knocking the ball up to their strikers and hoping for moment of magic to happen. With teams playing counter attacking football, the spaces didn't open up in the first half. The second half as a couple of new faces as Cisse made way for Ayoze. The substitute capitalised on the defensive error from Moreno and slotted it home.

Newcastle managed to keep Liverpool at bay as they took all three points.
