Barcelona powered themselves to a 2-1 win over Liga minnows Almeria thanks to a superb second half display from their marquee signing from Liverpool, Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan assisted in both the second half goals for the Catalan club.
Barcelona struggled for their usual rhythm and passing as Almeria stifled them with their pressing around their penalty box. Soon after frustrating the hosts for almost the entire duration of first half the hosts got their goal in 37th minute through a fine goal from Thievey.
Barca was left reeling as they looked completely out of sorts. And they deserved to trail at the half time.
But the introduction of Luis Suarez changed the dynamics of the game as he brought his directness and movement in the opposition half, which the Blauragna were missing in the first 45. The visitors got their leveler through Neymar in 73rd minute as Luis Suarez showed why Barcelona paid 75m for him despite being banned for four months.
The goal shifted the momentum in the Catalans’ favor. Luis Suarez was becoming a menace for the tiring Almeria defense and soon he slid in the ball to Jordi Alba who scored a sublime goal to crash the hosts’ dream of getting a point against Luis Enrique’s side.
Barca sit 2nd in the league behind Real Madrid who won their encounter against Rayo 5-1.
