Copa Del Rey: Barcelona 1-0 Ateltico Madrid | 1st Leg |

Overview:

It looked like normal service resumed for Barcelona after their dominating performance yesterday against the defending La Liga champions.

Atletico who visited the Camp Nou ten days ago, where back in town, but this time was for a game of Copa Del Rey. Atletico and Barcelona went head to head with the both managers putting out a strong side.

It was Barcelona who played their expansive style of football from the very first minute with Madrid club restricted to counter attacks.

Neymar was the first to test Jan Oblak. Half an hour would pass before Enrique’s team were able to carve out their next best chance, and when it arrived, Suárez was wasteful.

Rakiti? had lobbed him in behind the Atlético defence and with just Oblak at his mercy, he skewed his shot high over the Slovenian goalkeeper’s crossbar to the audible sighs among the home support.

The breakthrough came in the 85th minute, when Barca were awarded a penalty. Messi stepped up to take the shot, but was superbly saved by Oblak. But just for Messi to react first and put the ball into the net.

The first leg ended as 1-0 to Barcelona, with Catalan side traveling to capital on the 24tg for the second leg.
