Liverpool Sign Midfielder Lazar Markovic from Benefica

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has begun to spend the £75 million he obtained from the Suarez sale and has now bought the Serbian midfielder for a fee of £20 million.

He was reportedly seen heading into a medical for the Merseyside club and is likely to be officially unveiled within 24 hours.

The 20-year-old becomes the fourth signing for Reds behind Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can. He has racked up 7 goals and 4 assists for Benfica and helped them win the League.

He will be among the key players in Rodger’s strengthening of the midfield.With this latest signing the Liverpool manager has spent a sum £60 million so far with plans to spend some more before the transfer window closes on September 1.

The Irishman now has his eyes on Belgium’s young striker Divock Origi, who impressed in the World Cup, Alberto Morena and Swansea’s Ben Davies on his radar.
